After four highly successful studio albums and a live double LP, Frumpy disbanded in 1972: Singer and frontwoman Inga Rumpf, keyboardist Jean Jacques Kravetz, and bassist Karl-Heinz Schott continued as Atlantis. Frank Diez joined as the new guitarist, and former Emergency drummer Curt Cress replaced Carsten Bohn, who had come from the successful Frumpy days.
The band's eponymous debut album, which Atlantis recorded at London's Island Studios, sold very well in the US, where Rumpf's blues-oriented voice was appreciated. After the recording, Diez and Cress left the band. Udo Lindenberg and Cravinkel's guitarist George Meier stepped in for a tour with Traffic and Procol Harum.
From then on, Atlantis' personnel carousel was constantly revolving, but this did not detract from its steadily growing commercial success. Albums such as "It's Getting Better" (1973), "Ooh, Baby" (1974), and "Get On Board" (1975) are among the milestones in German rock history. In January 1976, Rumpf and Schott announced the band's dissolution.
The album "Live" consists of concert recordings, all recorded between 1973 and 1975 at the Fabrik in Hamburg. It was released in 1975 as a double vinyl gatefold edition on the Vertigo label. A magnificent live document that once again demonstrated the extraordinary musical presence of these five exceptional musicians (Rumpf, Bohn, Askew, Conti, Schott).
